FanClash

Summary

Fanclash is a football gaming app that lets users compete for prize pools by predicting player performance in real matches. Before each game, users select three footballers they believe will earn the highest points based on in-game actions and stats. Points are tracked live as the match unfolds, and the most accurate picks rise up the leaderboard, with top scorers winning a share of the prize pool. The platform combines the excitement of fantasy football with the thrill of quick, match-based competition, making it a fast-paced and engaging experience for football fans.

Project Overview

For Fanclash, I designed the UI/UX for the new leagues system and the in-game screen with live commentary, focusing on creating a more engaging and competitive experience for users. The leagues system was crafted to give players a clearer sense of progression and community, with intuitive navigation and visuals that made joining and tracking leagues seamless. For the in-game screen, I developed an interface that combined live commentary, player points, and real-time match updates into a dynamic, easy-to-follow experience that kept users immersed throughout the game. Working closely with stakeholders and developers, I delivered designs that not only elevated the gameplay experience but also enhanced retention by making Fanclash more interactive, social, and rewarding for football fans.

Problem

Fanclash wanted to improve the way users engaged with matches and competitions, but the existing experience lacked depth and clarity. The leagues system didn’t give players a strong sense of progression or community, and the in-game screen failed to fully capture the excitement of live football. Without clear, engaging interfaces, users struggled to stay immersed, which limited both retention and the competitive edge of the platform.

Design Process

My design process started with lo-fi wireframes to quickly explore layouts, user flows, and key interactions for both the leagues system and the in-game experience. These early sketches allowed for rapid iteration and feedback, ensuring we addressed core usability challenges before investing in detailed visuals. From there, I moved into mid-fi prototypes, refining structure and introducing clearer hierarchy to validate how users would navigate leagues and engage with live match updates. Once the flows were validated, I created high-fidelity UI designs that brought the Fanclash brand to life with polished visuals, dynamic layouts, and interaction details. Finally, I prepared a full handoff package for developers, including design specifications, assets, and annotations, while staying closely involved during implementation to answer questions and ensure the final build matched the intended experience.

Solution & Results

To address the challenges, I designed a new leagues system that gave players a clearer sense of competition, progression, and community, with streamlined flows for joining and tracking leagues. I also created a more dynamic in-game screen that combined live commentary, real-time points, and match updates into one cohesive experience, keeping users immersed throughout the game. By delivering intuitive, visually engaging, and developer-ready designs, the solution elevated Fanclash’s usability while making gameplay more exciting and rewarding for football fans.
